Dr. David Carpenter, DVM, graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Dr. Carpenter is dedicated to his clients and their pets, which is why he enjoys sharing client education and responsible pet ownership. He finds fulfillment in the genuine appreciation of his clients for the hard work of the doctors and staff at Hiram Animal Hospital. Dr. Carpenter loves all breeds, but has a special place in his heart for black Labradors. A true animal lover, he has two rescued Labrador mixes, 7 rescued cats, and two pet birds at home. In his spare time, Dr. Carpenter enjoys the great outdoors, skiing, and being with his family.
Dr. Wendy Meeker earned her DVM from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She earned her undergraduate degree from Purdue University. Dr. Meeker has practiced high-quality veterinary medicine for the last 21 years, and has enjoyed her time caring for the pets at Hiram Animal Hospital for the last sixteen years.
Dr. Lars Cook earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Saint George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 after obtaining his degree in Animal Science from the University of Georgia. Dr. Cook also served a year of clinical study at the University of Missouri. His veterinary-care interests include orthopedics, preventative care, and a passion to educate clients about their pets’ health.
Dr. Cook grew up in Cobb County and currently resides in Cartersville with his wife and daughter. He has a golden retriever, a bulldog mix, and a pair of black cats helping contribute to a happily chaotic home life. He enjoys traveling, cooking, and playing board games with his family.
Dr. Erica Bell, DVM, graduated from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2024. She was born and raised in Long Island, New York. Dr. Bell’s passion for Veterinary Medicine started when she was young. She always dreamed of one day becoming a veterinarian to help heal animals in need.
Dr. Bell loves ALL breeds, but she has a special love for large breed dogs such as Labrador Retrievers and Pit Bulls. At home, she has a Labrador Retriever named Nova and a Boston Terrier named Sadie.
In her free time, Dr. Bell enjoys traveling, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Aaron. When the weather is warm, Dr. Bell enjoys going to the beach and on cruises.
Dr. Alana Joseph earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. Matthew’s University in the Cayman Islands and completed her clinical year at Louisiana State University. Originally from Maryland, she is passionate about providing empathy, effective care, and is dedicated to strengthening the bond between animals and their families through high-quality veterinary medicine.
For Dr. Joseph, there’s no better feeling than helping an animal recover and witnessing the joy it brings to their loved ones. She approaches each case with empathy, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.
Now proud to call Georgia home, Dr. Joseph is excited to join the Hiram team and looks forward to serving the community and building meaningful connections with clients and their pets.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys stargazing, painting, and spending time with her two beloved pets, a playful French Bulldog named Loki and an active tortoise named Dakota.
